The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Vilnius Office, marking IOM's 60th Anniversary, organized a postal campaign "Far Is Close" during which the residents and guests of Vilnius were invited to send a hand-written postcard to their family members, relatives or friends living abroad before Christmas. In total, 3295 postcards were dispatched to different countries across the world in a week following the launch of the campaign on 3rd December by its patron, former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus.
